Who is she, this vital woman? She is every woman you’ve ever met and ever will. She lives in the soul of every female; the key to knowing her is just to open yourself to her influence.
She is adventurous, ready to take on the world in her own way, say the word and she will go. She is fierce, and unafraid of breaking anyone’s rules, even her own. She is sophisticated and refined, but she understands that mischief can be seductive and uses it to her advantage. She’s comfortable in her own skin and can adapt to any setting, from hotdogs by a country campfire to champagne at a black-tie soirée. “Inspiration, not imitation” is her mantra. She knows how to live simply but live well. She is her own person, unafraid of what others might think.
She is the woman that she wants to be, and if you don’t approve well “Frankly my dear, we don’t give a damn.”
Lesfemmesvitales is the tale of two southern girls who want to inspire others to be their most authentic selves. By sharing their varied journeys through life, they hope to lead others to search for the vitality in their own lives. To inspire them to live their best lives by getting out of the boxes that have been placed around them and reaching for the amazing experiences that are out in the world.
I was born and raised in a small (read: tiny) town in the Texas hill country, just north of Austin, where I grew up surrounded by nature, livestock and the occasional llama. Despite the deep love I had for my childhood home, when I was given the opportunity to travel as a model in high school, I quickly packed my bags and took off on a multi-year adventure to see the World. After traversing the streets of Shanghai, country roads of England and many beautiful places in between for a while, I decided that I needed to feed a different part of my soul, so I returned to the bosom of my family in Texas and attended university in Houston. After graduation, I went to work on the other side of the camera as a development and placement director with a local modeling agency and mentored young talent who were as eager as I to see the world. A few years in, my wanderlust kicked back to high gear, and rather than take off for far flung locales (my husband was not as up for that challenge as I was), I changed industries and met Paige. The rest is, as they say, history.
These experiences have helped to build me into the person who I am today, a person who I am perfectly content in being. Les Femmes Vitales is not only a way for me to continue to feed my soul, but is also a way for me to continue mentoring others as they follow their own journey of self-discovery and work towards becoming the confident, self-possessed women that they desire to be. So go out there and live your life, the way that you want to live it!
Wishing you a life filled with simple beauty!
I’m a 4th generation Houstonian, daughter to an avid outdoorsman and to a woman among women. I’m a sister, aunt, wife, friend and partner in crime. I believe in a give and take relationship with nature and while I like to keep my hands manicured, I also love to get them dirty. I possess an irreverent sense of humor and a deep love for food, wine, travel and dogs. I believe that life should be lived with gusto and like any true Southern woman I believe that life should be filled with beautiful things, especially if they’re unexpected. I love with all my heart, laugh at all the jokes and cry at all the weddings.
In college, my world view was completely changed after a summer in Granada, Spain, where I tapaed, siestaed, and learned to live my life with a different meaning. When I returned to Texas, it seemed everything had changed, although it was really just me seeing the world differently. I started out my return by breaking off a seven year relationship with literally no idea what I would do next. Then, voila!; 6 months later I met my husband, who encouraged me to change careers, where I ultimately met Kate. Soon thereafter we formed one of the coolest friendships I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing, which luckily is fortified by the bromance that our husbands share.
Together she and I decided to create this space as a way to encourage one another, along with other women, to live a life filled with beauty and empowered by their femininity. To be as vulnerable as you are strong, and to be the kind of devil-may-care-badass-bitch you’ve always wanted to be.
